Fr. Senan Timoney SJ R.I.P. – In Appreciation
Senan’s sisters and extended family would like to thank the members of the Mungret Past Pupils Union who attended the prayer service for Senan in Cherryfield Lodge and the concelebrated Requiem Mass in Milltown Park Chapel on the 17th and 18th Feb 2013. We particularly appreciated the guard of honour provided to Senan’s funeral cortege as it left Miltown Park. Thank you also for the flowers sent from the President and the past pupils.
We know that very many Mungret past pupils kept in touch with Senan over the years following the schools closure on 31st July 1974. Senan’s love for Mungret was palpable and he regularly gave accounts of various gatherings of past pupils. He particularly looked forward to attending the Union’s annual dinner.
We are aware that during his time in Cherryfield Lodge and his protracted illness in hospital he had many communications and visits from, and even “outings” with, Mungret past pupils. An “outing” he recounted with great enthusiasm in his final months was one that included a tour of Dun Looghaire Golf Course via golf buggy followed by a meal in the clubhouse. This was an absolute highlight for him at a time when his quality of life was extremely compromised.
As we are unable to thank you all individually please accept our gratitude for all that you did for a brother and uncle we loved dearly.
The holy sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of the Union members.
Sincerely
The Timoney family
